Mrs David Thomas and Miss Thomas (Ashburton), and Mr C. P. Thomas (Ghristc-Hircli), intend spending a few weeks iii London, and then making a motor-car tour of England, Wales, and fe'cotlaud.
./Mr and Mrs D. Wcdderspoon are recant arrivals from Wellington, andcthey contemplate a stay of some months at least. Business is the main purport of.Mr Wedderspoon's trip, and he is arranging for various agencies here and on the Continent. America is to be included in the tour.
The Rt. Hon. Sir Joshua Strange .Vniiams was one of the guests entertained; at dinner last evening by the Treasurer,: Lord Justice Kennedy, and the Master, of the Bench of Lincoln's 3nn, Day in the Easter Term. •• The"High Commissioner for New" Zealand was also present.
■YJIr and.Mrs D. O'Reilly (Hawke's _ - Bay) contemplate spending two years in 'this country, partly with their daughter,: Mrs Myles E. DowYley.who * lives at Clonmel, in Ireland, and partly with their son; Mr F. J. O'Reilly, who is '-', studying medicine at Edinburgh TJhi- - versity. During the summer they exto go on tho Continent.

Arrangements have been made for Master Rose to go to a pre{aratory boarding' school at Croworough, and-Mrs Rose will probably settle down-yn a flat here. During Jul. and' August she will be in Scotland
Mr J. R. Sinclair, New Zealand's Representative on the Dominion's Royal Commrssion, returned to England Yesterday from-South Africa, whore'the proceedins.. of the Commission have already been completed. He came direct _, from Cape Town to London; with tho ■. " chairman, some of the other members - coming t by.the east coast of Africa. Tho Commission will probably next month resßmothe hearing of evidence in En«-' land.
The Rev. James Marchant, of the National Council of Public Morals, is about to leavo England for a tour of the world, accompanied by .Mrs Marchant. A farewell reception was given by Bishop and Mrs Boyd Carpenter, at then house in Little Cloisters, and the' En__t3 wero representative of all the churches. Addresses are to be deliverred by .Mr; Marchant throughout the tour, which -is to include New Zealand aad. Lord and Lady Plunket very kindlylent their town houso in Ormonde Gate, Chelsea, to-day, for an exhibition of portrait drawings by the talented New Zealand artist, Mr Cecil S. Jameson, of "Wellington. . Mr Jameson has been studying art in London for the last ten years, and specimens ..of his work have been-seen at exhibitions of the National Portrait Painters and Modern Portrait Painters. To-day's exhibition, which was largely attended, consisted of some twenty portrait drawings and a few landscape sketches done in water-colours. The portrait drawings created considerable attention by reason of the highly skilful and lifelike manner in which the artist had performed his work. There is. an excellent portrait of Lord Plunket. while those of Miss Rhind (Wellington), and of Miss Eileen Palliser (daughter of Mr C.JiVray Palliser) are charming productions. Other portraits :, includo Lady Jane Gathorne-Hardyj .General Hunter-Blair, Mrs Maunsell,, Miss Kathleen Frere, Mr G. K. Chesterton, and Mrs Aird.
Mr and Mrs Robert Malcolm .and Miss Malcolm (Christchurch) have just reached London after travelling many thousand miles. They propose spending the summer quietly in motoring j through rural England and. Scotland* and the return journey to New Zealand will be by circuitous routes. Leaving Christchurch last August, Mr Malcolm and his family spent six weeks in Australia, two weeks in Ceylon, and then ten weeks in India. Here they were fortunate in stopping for a fortnight in Haidarabafl, tho capital of the Nizam's dominions. .They also ('visited the; Mutiny cities, Benares, Calcutta, Jaipur, and Bombay. Crossing to Port Said, they spent a month in 3£gypfc> going down the Nile from Cairo to Assouan. Another month was spent viewing places on the snores of the Mediterranean, and the last few weeks on tho Continent.. , Tho return journey* is to be by way of Now York. Panama Canal, California, and- San -Fr_tnei.°eo, Japan, China, Singapore, Java, Borneo, and then homo via Colombo and Australia. . Mrs Malcolm is representing Australasia at a world's conference of women which meets at Stockholm in Juno.
