WANGANUI V TARANAKI.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION* TELEGRAM.) • '-.-■■ WANGANUI, June 3. The first Rugby representative match of the season, Wanganui v. Taranaki, was played here to-day. The weather was showery and a strong wind was blowing, but the ground was in firstclass condition. The attendance was large. Taranaki won the toss and played with the wind at their backs in th.il first half, and when the teh-ms crossed over the score was—rTaranaki •), Wanganui nil. Taranaki's score was made up of three goals, two from marks and one from a penalty by J.. Stohr. Wanganui had all the better of the second half, and halfway through Swan and F. Meuli scored tnes. the latter converting one. Tara:>>-H thus won an even and hard contest by nine points to eight. At tb© Association game, Wanganui beat Manawatu by four goals to nil.
