ASHBURTON STOCK MARKET.

There was a very moderate attendance at the weekly stock sale held at the Ashburton yards yesterday, and tha entry was a very small one as compared with recent markets. The yarding comprised 2081 sheep and.lambs, as compared with 8§39. the previous week at tne Tiuwald yards, and included 2&1 fat ewos, 260 fat wethers, 4123 fat lambs, and 1117 stores. Tho shortage was amongst tho ewes and lambs in tbe fat pens. The quality of tho sheep and lambs yardod in tho fat pens was very indifferent, and several lines went to graziers for fattening purposes. Freezing buyers were again well represented, but with the small yarding and the high price expected by vendors for inferior quality, very little business was done, and many linen were passed by auction. Fat ewes made up to 18s 2d, fat wethers to 21s 2d, and fat lambs to 20s 6d. The following was the range of prices obtained :—Prime butchers' ewos 16s 6d to 18s 2d, medium los 6d to 16s 3d, light-weights'l3s 6d to 14s lid; prime Butchers' wethers 19s to 21s 2d, others 18s to ISs 9d; prime freezefrs* lambs ISs'to 20s t>d, others 15s 6d to 17s 3d. There was a very small yarding of store sheep, which included 518 hoggets, tho balance being ewes. Thero was very little interest taken in the sale, and the bulk was passed by auction. There were only throe head of cattle sold in the fat pens-—a cow Fpringsr made £9, an aged cow in calf £3 os,' and a cow and calf £10.
