CULVERDEN.
Tho annual bachelors' ball was held! in tho Drill Hall,. Culverden, ,011- Friday evening, and, as anticipated, turned out to be entirely successful. The hall was tastefully decorated wi'.h evergreens and autumn leaves. Sumner was laid in a largo marquee adjoining, tho tables bems Nicely decorated with palms. About sixty couples were present, including visitors fronr all parts of Amuii," Haumer, and Waiknri. The weather was specially favourable, and, no doubt, contributed'to the good atTie music was supplied by Gusworth's Band, and dancing "was'kept iy> till close, on three o'clock. Messrs P. Hamilton and G. McAdam acted as AI.C. s. 'All present thoroughly enjoyed. ihemselvo-, and many appreciative remarks were passed. Groat credit is duo to the energy displayed "by the hon. secretaries, Messrs F. R. Frame and A. Smith, who worked hard to ; bring the function to its successful j is? no. j The weather last week was 6ne, with heavy ■ frosts at nirrhts, until Friday, when it became .very overcast, but no rain fell.
