The hemp was much damaged, and fifty bales of wool were scorched. A quantity of worthless cargo was jettisoned.

The Waimate proceeds on her voyage to-morrow.

The New Zealand Shipping Company yesterday received 1 -the following, "cable regarding tho s.s. Waimate: — "Waimate fire, extinguished by water without, assistance. Expected to sail shortly. Damago not yet. ascertained, but 1200 bales hemp, 2-50 bales tmv. and 140 bales wool known to be damaged."'
