ihe meeting of tho ChrLslchureh l.owlmg Club was held lost evening in the clubs pavilion, Dr. Sandstein prcsidin-. The annual report stated that the membership totalled 93. Tho competitions. during tho year had boen ruth«r numerous, B.nd owing to these and other interruptions, it was only ju«t possible to complete tho matches by the end of the season. • There wore good entries and keen play for all the. events, and the green was well occupied throughout the reason. A number'of'members too); part in the tournaments at Auckland.. Dunedin, and Timaru, and performed creditably. At the Busier tournament the club rink, consisting of S. Lewis. JV. Atkinson, T?. Torrance, and Dr. Sandstein (s) was placed first. Tho annual match with Wellington had not taken p'.aee. but it. was sug-go-Med that the club pay its duo visit early this season, and leavo the Wellington Club open to return the visit later in the season.' A large number of improvements had been made to the fenco.. buildings, and grounds, aa well as to the plant, and.the results fully justified the expenditure. Thanks to the green superintendent, Mr T. Strange, tho green had been in splendid playing order right up to the end of the season, and all visiting bowlers were unstinted in their praise?. The club -was indebted to Mr Manning for having had tho green carefully tested by a surveyor, and the club's thanks, wore heartily tendered to him. Tho greenkeeper, Mr Ilolland, hod done his -work with 'his -usual skill*.and thoroughness. v Special •thanks were' accorded to all thoao who had donated trophies, etc. The report was adopted.
Tho balance-sheet showed 11. balance from last year of £59 36s 4d, and the receipts for the year were £273 19s. The' expenditure amounted to .£304 ISs 6d, leaving a cash* balance of £28 19s lOd.
It« adoption was agreed to. Tho officers .for tho ensuing year were elected as follow.:—President, Mr S. Manning; vice-presidents. Dr. Orchard and'Mr ~E. 30. He said in, support that, the club had now a large''number of competitions, and if'pennant matches wero undertaken in tb© coming season it would be almost impossible to carry out club games as in the past. Mr Moslcy sugcrrated that 8- stipulation bo made that., a definite tim?-.be.-fixed for tho completion of "each round, Rnd kept to strietiy by the match committee. . .If this .■«•■«*! done, he w.ould withdraw his motion.
