The Norddeutscber Lloyd and Deutsche Australische Companies have intimated that they contemplate maintaining their own direct cargo services from Bremen and Hamburg to New Zealand. . A leading British owner is visiting Germany with a view to arranging a basis for a settlement. The prospects of an amicable arrangement are, bright, but if they fail to materialise a rate war will follow.
