John Timothy Laffey was fined 30s and costs for faiiing to render personal service under the Defence Act. William R. Williams, on a similar charge, was fined 40s and costs, and Harry Gudsell was fined 20s and costs. Charges against Walter ! Avery, Herbert Bramiey, Thomas Daly, Thomas Black, ;-nd Thomas Nicoll were dismissed. Henry Hyland was fined 60s and costs. John Laffey, J. Quigley, and John O'Carrol were each fined 20s and costs.
Arthur Wilson,* for whom Mr Buchanan appeared, was charged with failing to register a dog. Defendant denied owning a dog:, and the case was dismissed without" prejudice. "William Langdon and John Strachan were each fined 5s for failing to register their cogs.
H. Davidson was fined 10s and cos*s for failing to expose the number on his motor-oar, and 20s and costs for driving beyond' tho speed limit aoross the Ashburton traffic T ~idge. Thomas Henry "*!oxander and Annie Alexander (Mr Buchanan) were charged with unlawfully selling liquor, with keeping liquor for sale, and with ordering liauo.r without notifying that the liquor was to be taken into a No-License district. The case was partly heard and adjourned for a fortnight. .
Judgment for plaintiff, by default, was given in C. L. Handccck v. W. Gunn, .claim 7s Gd. with costs ss.
George Wonnacott (Mr Orlv" 1 " claimed from W. J. S. McDowell (Mr Buchanan} tho sum of £15 damages to a bicycle, caused through a collision with defendant's motor-car. Judgment was given for plaintiff for £10 and costs.
