County Council -vvas held on Tuesday, all the councillors beins present. 31r Crump the Council in regard to a pioe culvert being blocked across tho Leeston road, and was informed that it would be cleared as soon as possible*. Correspondence was received from the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, inviting the Council to the oneninc of the Kins Georpco \. Coronation Memorial Hospital at Cashiiiere HilJs on June 3rd. The Council accented tho invitation, and thought it a fitting ounortunitv of interviewing the Hon. K. He.iton Rhode* on matters connected with the district. From tho Hospital Board, forwarding copy of proposed receipt.-* nurl expenditure for current year, the Council's proportion being £712 11s 10d, upward of £2.50 more than last year. The Council expressed surprise at the ever-increa.s-ina demand for hosnital and charitable aid purposes. From J. Cross, asking permission to plough part of Dunn's crossing road. Granted, on the usual conditions. From the Public Works Department, forwarding form lor application for Government grants, if required. It was reported that application had been made for prants for roading the Lake Settlements. Tlio Council was informed that tho Waiwera County Council had been gravel over and cut up the main road at Motukarara during the recent wet weather, and it was decided to inform it that the Council's contractors were not allowed to cart in wet weather, nnd expected it to observe the same rule. Notice of intention to levy id rate for Springston Riding, 'and 0-16 th d for the GreeDpark Riding for the current year ■was given. The overseer reported that Lincoln bridge had. been cross-decked, the weed-cutting launch painted and repaired, and two concrete- culverts opened up for traffic during the month, but owing to the scarcity of labour all the district drains had not been cleaned. It was decided to clean what is known as Stoddart'e drain and others as soon as possfolo.
