Th» expenditure, which amounted to JE2S2, was £270 nbevo last year's total but of thai amount £100 represented increase in stakes and £11)3 increased toloU-£-itor tax. £790 was. epent on irnprovcruents and further payment of £60 <wi!l complete all authorised works, comprising erection of Etowards' stand over secretary's effice, altering and extending grandstand, twemy-two lockcre in. iotalisator house, alteration and additions to trairer'a cottage, erection oi eleven (now totalling twenty-five), and -accommodation room for trainers, painting grandstand, and all aew work, erection of fence around training track, and tcp-dressinjj course. For the first time a stipendiary steward attended tho club'e last race meeting, >and tis duties vrore found to bo very light, as everything went off without a hitch. SPEINCFIELD HACK KACING CLUB. The annual riie«tin£ of members of tho Springfield Hack Raciug Club was held en Saturday evening, when there was a fair tittendance. The baJunce-oheet for tho pa3t year was read, showing that after ail oxpensc* had been paid there was a credit balonce of £12 133 10d. Aftex considerable discussion it was reeolred to wind up the club, as tbs carrying out of a race meeting without cither totalisator or bookmakers was found to bo 100 j,Teat a task. The balance in hand was voted a« an honoraiium to tho secretary aud auditor. A hearty vote of thanks ira-s accorded k> Sir Seymour, who has been president of the club sincu its inception, and ha* dono a lot of work to try to keep tho club going.
