WASHINGTON, May 27
Mr James J. Hill, the railway magnate, speaking at tuc National Foreign Trado Convention, warned tho United States .against following Britain's lead iv allowing labour unions to fix the ecalo of wages, thus enabling Germany to make successful attacks on Bnt-.sh commerce. Tho hardens placed on business in England, ho said, wero producing widespread industrial unrest, and a similar effect was likely in the United States. She would bo unablo to hold her markets against competitors whilo maintaining wages scales which did not admit of her meeting her competitors' prices, and simultaneously offered no inducements to capital to exploit new lieids of development.
