Now that the parties -working at thfl Otira tunnel have arrived at a com- -, plete understanding in regard to labour - conditions, it may safely be eaitl that .. the work will proceed more quickly _': thau hitherto. At tho Otira end the men are driving in better country, and it is anticipated , that the worst-of tho wet places 15 , passed. Those who have been «ra- . nected xvith the tunnel for some twa say that the worst is over, and ta» - ■] country will be fairly dry right through to Bealey. This is good nwe, and w, allay tho fcans of those who had doubta whether the tunnel could pushed through if so much water iuw-V to be contended with. For over tw»rf=.~ miles the tunnel is lined. t^ So far this winter there have p«*s - no delays owing to the drying up of «J, water supply at Otira.
