A sad fatality occurred at Otahuhu railway station at about (i p.m. to-day, when Annie Aquilla Auuett, aged no, wife of Alfred Aukett, storekeeper, living in Great Wouth road, Otahuhu, lost her life through falling beneath, a train, and her granddaughter, .Dorothy Th'eliiia Aukett, a child of three, was so seriously injured that her life is despaired of. Mrs Aukett, senr., was twisted round and fell : with her. granddaughter ber tween the" train and the platform, outcry was raised and the train .w"as brought to a standstill, but not before five or six of the. wheels -had'passed over the-unfortunate "woman and child. The express came on to Auckland with , the "injured woman, who expired on the way to the hospital. Both her legs had been run, over, and her arm was b«)ken, aiid she had also eustained injuries to her head'and face.

The child had both her-feet cut otf above the ankles, and was in a very precarious condition when sho was admitted to the hospital. Very little hope of her recovery was entertained Jate to-night.' ■
