Advice received locally to-day (says the Wellington "Post" of Monday)" states that the collier -Nguhero i 3 still delayed at Gisborne, at which, port she Has been, since the 15th inst. When attempting to'leave in continuation ot her .voyage from Limestone Island to ISopier and Wellington, the vessel ran on a bank of silt,'which, it is stated, was caused by a, fresh corning, down the. river. All efforts to remove the "sgahore have so far been iruitless. On Wednesday the dredges Maui and John Townley were utiiisud to prepare a channel for the Ngahcro to sail out by, aad at about 3.3U p.m., with a favourable tide, the Muui took a direct lino from her and a sccqnd one-waj taken to the tows wharf and hauled on by the ship's own winches. The nev result, was progress by exactly one foot, and then the attempt was abandoned, 'iho .Ngakere 'being of rather fiat-bottomed build, the suction against the silted bottom is tremendous.. The next day (Thursday), the attempts met with,no 'better success. ' It was expected that tho Ngahere would be •on an ewn "ktjol arid' drawing lift, but she »was drawing 12ft 'forward and' lift uJtVt Xh * intention. was to fill the Ngahore's ballast tanks with town water (her pumps aro silted'up) and put her on an. even keel. When a turn, was taken out of the steamer's engines her propellers sent water, silt, and driftwood flying high in the air, part of the blades being out of the water.
