SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY.
At the monthly meeting bf the Christchnrch East branch of the Social Democratic Party held last night tth a president, Mr T. 11. Butterfield -pS siding), a circular was received' from the District Council.of the Party convening a conference of members'of all tho branches on the sixth of next month. circular was also received from the National Exithtive calling for nominations to the National ference and for remitK to the annual conference. It was resolved that the question of remits should be left in the hands of the executive committee. The question of selecting a delegate to represent the branch at the annual conference was held over till the next meeting.
The meeting decided that the Christchurch hast seat be contested by the Social Democratic Party, and that a recommendation should 'be sent to the District Council to that effect. Tho secretary reported that the result of the recent social held by the branch had been highly successful, and it was resolved to hold three more at monthly intervals through the winter
