WAIHORA'S ROUGH TRIP.
The Wafbora arrived at Lyltelton yesterday morning" from Newcastle, the trip, on account of the rough weather, being considerably longer than is usual. Tho veesel left Newcastle on Sunday, May 17th, and imn.ediately encountered a nor'-west gale, which subsequently veered to the Bouth. Big seas were experienced most of the way, and often the vessel was awash both fore and aft. One big eea, which wae shipped, smashed in tho butcher's shop, situated amidships. On another occasion three waeh porte were etove in. At one time the vessel wae hove-to for ■nineteen houra. The eeas then moderated, but it was not until within 170 miles of Farewell Spit that fine weather wae experienced. The Waihora anchored in the stream at 3 a.m., and after being granted pratique wes berthed to commence discharge of her cargo of coal. Discharge is expected to be completed early next week, and the vessel will return to load again for LyUelton.
WESTMEATH'S LYTTELTON LOADING
Sailing yesterday afternoon for Vaitara, the Federal aid Shire liner WestmeatTi took the following cargo ior Liverpool and other West of England ports from Lyttelton:—For Avonmouth: 2373 carcwea frozen meat, 30G7 eacke peas, 34 casks dross, 21 sacks dross, 64 ingots. For Liverpool: 12,632 cajcases frozen meat, 2029 eacke brim, 220 sacks peas, 1050 crates runners, 3 drums glycerine, 25 casks tallow, 20 casks ?reaec, 10 crates cheese, 37 bales wool, 1 case sundries. I'or Glasgow: 1750 carcases frozen meat, 296 bags beef, 160 quarterß beef, 250 crates runners, and 243 crates cheese.
