GENERAL SIR LAN HAMILTON AT MASTEBTON.
(press association telxqram.) : MASTERTON, May 25. General Sir lan Hamilton arrived here from Wellington this morning. Ho was met by tho Pipe. Band and escorted to the Club Hotel* where he was entertained at luncheon by .the Borough CouncU. In responding to. the toast of Ms health. General Ilamilt-on emphasised the necessity for maintaining the purity of the race in tho Dominion, and for young people protecting the heritage left them. He also spoke in glowing terms of the scenery he had witnessed en route to Masterton. and stated that many people in tho Old Country would pay large sums of-money to be afforded air opportunity of seeing such magnificent mountain and hill scenery. After luncheon General Hamilton-in-spected about 600 Cadets on. the old Show Grounds, together with a number of veterans and South African Contingenters. .Hβ spent to-night as the guest of Mr and Mrs H. H. Beethani at Brancepeth, and leaves to-morrow for Wellington.
