UNPROTECTED HAT PINS
BY-LAW TO BE ENFORCED. The new by-law relating to tho use of unprotected hatpins by women is now to receive a strict enforcement. Tho City Council inspectors have been instructed to see that no unprotected hatpins are- worn in the streets, in public conveyances and in places of amusement. Women defying tho by-law will have their names taken, and will b» proceeded against for breach of tho regulation. Tho inspectors, however, hopo that there will bo no occasion to put tho machinery of tho law in motion to enforco tho by-law. "Women should understand that tho regulation is framed only to do away with a public danger, and if they are willing to act reasonably and to'comply with the by-law voluntarily, there will bo uo need whatever for any compulsion.
In the meantime all the inspectors are "»n the aJcrt to detect offenders.
