HIMITANGI'S ROUGH TRIP.
The Himitanfri returned to Lyttelton on Saturday morning from the Chatham If lands alter an exceedingly r°«-,h tnp. Shelert Lyt--telton on May Sth, experiencing fine weather on "the. run to Waitangi. On her tnp round the Islands, gales, denae fogs, and heavy rain were met with at interval**, causing the vessel to take shelter on ono occasion until the seas calmed down. On tbo return tnp to Lyttelton tho weather was even worse_ than at tie.lslands. The vessel left \y_it_Bgi in a -south-west gale with a following sea. At 6 p.m. the wind blew with cyclonic lore*, raising mountainous mm on tho port quarter, followed subsequently by a beam «-, ta« sails being eet to steady, the _e_«l. On Thursday ai 10 _,m. another _outh_ly cyc-ona was experienced, and- tho weather then "oecoming more favourable, although squally, tho Himitangi was enabled to reach PO" «_ mentioned above. Hex cargo consisted of 722* cases of *_h, 20 bags of fish, and 194 sheep, the live stock only being for■this; port, liming the rough weather at -the Wanda the ship's cook, George Soutbgate, fell down the banker .batch and injured his knee- On arrival nt Lyttelton he was attended hy Dr. New_«, and subsequently-removed to the Chri-tchurch Hospital. The H*mit_-X left for Wellington to complete discharge on Saturday at- midnight.
