Leading Nationalists regard tbo movement with mixed feelings, believing that the objects of the men controlling tho volunteers are more national than nationalist. Members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, acting apparently u_d<-r some general order, aro beginning to join m largo numbers.
"The Times," in a leader, says: — "Mr Asquith's silence and tho further delay of a fortnight may precipitate a catastrophy. All that i_ clear is that each day brings us closer to appalling dangers, aud that no Prime Mini-tc has ever trifled so long with possibilities which may shako the whole Empire to its foundntinns "
It is understood that the movements of the Irish Constabulary were orderx*d as a precaution in view of possible outbreaks wh_ Iho Home Rulo Bill leaves the Houso of Commons. Roman Catholic priests ar 0 urging their flock*; to abstain from processions and the lighting of bonfires to celebrato the passing of the Bill. Large consignments of ammunition have been landed in Ulster during the past fortnight.
