The game occupied two hours. After the first couple of sets Lowe put more sting into his play, and managed to drive Brookes's service. Ho frequently beat the Australian with fine side-line drives. Brookes* finished strongly. In the fifth sot the court was slippery owing to rain, but Brookes played a wonderful game on a treacherous surface * - w - In the doubles "Wilding and Brookes beat Lowe and Myers, 0-2, 3-0 (retired).
