RUSSIAN POLICE.
CORRUPTION AT ODESSA. / '^GRAFT"~EXPO3ED. ("li»e_" and "Sydney Sun" Services.) ST. PETERSBURG, May 22. A number of members of tho police force at Odessa are to be prosecuted for exacting tribute amounting to £S_QO per annum from the. occupiers of sixty disordcrlv houses.
Tho "graftor.v" wished to drag a new inspector into their ranks, and as ho appeared to bo willing to join them, they laid beforo him a full list of tho house-; together with tho contributions paid' by iheir occupiers. The inspector asked to be allowed a few hours for consideration, and was permitted to retain tho documents till next day. He had the papers nhotographed. and proceedings instituted against the men implicated-
