COAL AND BLANKET FUND.

PLAN OF CAMPAIGN FOS THE WINTER. • Now that the winter has set in, the Coal and Blanket Fund Society are busy visiting those in need of assistance. The first meeting of the Committee was held on Wednesday, and, the plan of campaign set out for the year's work. The following ladies have -undertaken the care of the needy in their respective denominations:—Sisters Alice and May, Anglican;, Sisters Marion, Annio, and Elsie, Presbyterian; Sister Grace, Baptist;. Sisters Winifred, Ruth, Grace Crump, and Florence, Methodist; Mrs Green and Miss . Johnston, Catholic; Miss Spear, Mrs Fountain, Mrs Humphries, St. Albans; Mrs l»each, Sydenham ; Mr Cluee, East End of town; Rev. Horden, West End of town; Rev. F. Rnle, general visitor; Miss Cardalo, secretary. .

.The successful tenderers for the year's supplies are:—Messrs Beath and Co , blankets; Messrs Belmer and Co., coal.

Strict rules and regulations have been framed, and it is.the committee's intention to investigate every case fully before relief is given.

A great number of cases havb been watched during the summer months, and more than half the applicants, so far, are old age pensioners. Most of these have been relieved, as tho secretary was well-informed of their urgent wants.

A great loss to the Society has been* caused by the departure of Sister Edith as chairwoman. Sister Grace Crump, who has had considerable experience in England, has been appointed in her place. . Within the last three days, 73 cases have been ■ attended, and the secretary will be pleased to receive advice" of any immediate cases ; of distress, either bycalling at 25-1 Montreal street or ringing up -telephone No. 3101. •
