(By Cable.—Preee Association.—Copyright.) (Received May 22nd, 8.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 22. Sir J. Hennikcr Heaton presided at a meeting of the Council of the British Empiro League.
Mr J. Norton Griffiths moved, and the Hon. T. Mackenzie seconded, a resolution to send a deputation to tho Postmaster-General for tho purpose of retaining the penny per pound ra*to on newspapers sent to Canada, and securing cheaper rates on newspapers and magazines sent to Australia, Now Zealand, and South Africa.
Lord Lamington, Sir E. R. Fremantlo. and others supported the resolution, which was carried.
