CLYDESDALE HOESE SOCIETY.
ANNUAL REPORT. Tho annual report of the Clydesdale Horse Society of* New Zealand, to be presented at the annual meeting of the Society, to be held at Dunedin on June 3rd, states that tho year just closed has beea one of steady progress for. tho Society. The roll of members hna been increased by 72, and the accumulated fund now stands at £787 13s 7d. The feature of the year's work has been the publishing of the first volume of the Clydesdale Siud Book, a record of 2052 entries, and extending to 480 close-ly-printed pages, with seventeen illustrations. Tho membership of the Society ac at April 30th was as follows ■■.- Life governors, o; life members, 23; annual members, 393; total, 421. During tho year seventeen district Agricul-tural-and Pastoral Societies were affiliated to tho Society. The Wright,, phenson fifty guineas challenge cup wa« competed for at the Otago A. and P. Society's parade., of stallions at Tahuna Park on September 25th, 1913, and wa* awarded to Mr Jas. Patrick. Lee Creek. Outran), fi>r hie rising iMir-yenr old Baron Sandy. t This was the wcond occasion on which Mr Patriok had won this trophy. Tho TJuiot Steam Ship Company's challenge cup of fifty guineas was awarded at tho Auckland A. and P- Society's Dominion Show, held at Auckland in NoveinbL'i last, to Mr Ernest Short, of Parorangi, Feilding. Three. hundred and ciglitowi animals hod been examined and passed by Government veterinary surgeons •under tho Society's veterinary inspection sohenie. It has been decided ax- ' n meeting of the General Purposes Com raittee to ad-rertis* New Zealand Clydesdales at tho Panama-Pacific Exposition, to be held 3t San Francisco next year.
