For three daye after leaving the southern port (saye the "Post") the veeeel had to beat against etron? head winds, and when off Kaikoura »Iym Saturday morning a southerly gale, together with heavy rain squalls, wae encountered. The land could not be picked -up, and consequently Captain Spicule deemed it unwise to make for this port. The Eunice wasblown through Cook Strait, and all on board had a most trying time Eventually they were able to seek shelter near WaitapTi, where repairs were effected to the eaile, which had been ripped by the strong winds. The vese«l wa« headed for Wellington on Wednesday, and luckily she managed to make the 1 trip serosa during a moderation m the weather. Just as the vessel reached port the southerly 'again freshened. The yeseel he* a. load of produoe for Wellinsrtbn. She will probably proceed to ilavelock about Tuesday next. .
