A young 'man anxious to proeuro 1000 dollars to enable him to marry sees a poster'offering exactly that reward for the apprehension of a criminal. Another man is scanning the -mister at tho same time—the criminal" himself. This is a coincidence which the young fellow takes advantage of. He is after his man and runs bi-m to earth and holds-him while the police are sent for, the-young man's sweetheart coming in handy to take tho messago. The criminal, however, is no philosopher, and does not take things quietly. He hite his captor over the head! and «••:- ca_po.«.' Then begi-ns another chc-a. The criminal conceals himself near a dredge, ready to shoot at the young lover-when he "appears. The girl comprehends'the nefarious plot and sets about circumventing it. She outers tho pilot houso of a near-by dredge and laying hold of tho different" levers causes the hi* arm to shoot out and gather up the criminal in'the claw. The arm is then 'swung over the water and.' tho prisoner is he'd in tho claw until tho police arrive.
