FARMERS' UNION REMIT.
(rRESS association telegram.)
AUCKLAND, May 21
The question of naval defence was discussed <at some length at the Farmers' Union conference this morning) when the provincial executive submitted the following remit: "That this conference, while reaffirming the position that New Zealand should contribute its fair share towards the defenco of the Empire, is of opinion that the proposed change of policy in regard to the naval subsidy is such an allimportant matter, and fraught with such serious and far-reaching results, that the Dominion should not finally be corornttted until the matter has been more fully discussed." After a lengthy discussion the remit was carried unanimously amid applause.
