MARIST BROTHERS OLD BOYS' FOOTBALL CLUB.

OPENING OF NEW PREMISES. . The Marist Brothers Old Boys' Football Club, which has only been in existence during tho past few years, celebrated a big advance in its progress on Wednesday night whon now club rooms, recently acquired; were officially opened. The new promises * are situated in Manchester, street, quite handy to the centre of the town and liavc already become very popular with members of the club. They comprise a spacious club room, whero members may meet and games of billiards and other amusements may be indulged in. There is also a smaller room which is reserved for committee meetings, and lavatories and ajl other conveniences make the rooms of distinct value to members personally, and to the club generally. Mr E. L. McKeon presided, and there was a very -large attendance of mem--bers and their lady friends. The chairman read apologies from his Lordship Bishop Grimes and Sir Geo. Clifford and-during the course of the evening a telegram was received from Sir George, who is at present in Oamaru, congratulating the club on the new premises it bad taken over, and wishing _ those present a very enjoyable evening. Sir George, who is president of the club, takes a very keen interest in its welfare, and a handsome donation of furniture for the new rooms was made by him, lor which the members aro very grateful. In declaring the rooms open tho Very Rey. Father Price, Adm., made reference to the progress tho Marists had . mado since the. formation of tho club, and hoped it would not bo very long before they would be seen to still further advantage on the football field. The new premises wore a distinct credit to the members of the club, and particularly to the energetic committee that had taken the matter in hand.

A programme of musical items was then gone through, and the following were amongst those wdio contributed to the evening's entertainment: Misses Gardner, Thompson and Harrington, and Messrs Healey. Johnston, McKay, McSweeney and Williams.
