SUMMARY AND FORECAST.
Mr l>. C. Bates, Government Meteorologist, supplied the following weather summary and forecast at 5 p.m; yesterday:— Tile barometer fine fallen steadily in the south and is also still low in tho north. The westerly low area in the south has modified tho conditions in the rear of the cyclone off East Cape, the winds decreasing and ''the weather improving to-day. Present indications are for variable and strong breezes, changing to ' increasing eoutherlfaa everywhere shortly; expect changeable weather, cold, etormy and ditione, wifh enow on the higher levels in the south; the barometer has a falling , tendency, but is likely to rise Jaet by -to-morrow evening. - ■
