Brown, of Messrs Wynn-Willianis, Brown, and Gresson, .solicitors to the deceased lady, on Tuesday afternoon, at a meeting of the trustees appointed by the deceased. Messrs F. H. I'yne, A. McKellar, A. A. M. McKellar. and N. L. Mcßoih. After providing tor a number of private legacies and annuities, # tho lato Mrs Townend bequeathed tho amounts named to the following public institutions: — £1003 to tho trustees or other persons having tho direction, management, and control of the •Sanatorium for Consumptives at Cashmere Hills, for tbo purposes of establishing and maintaining a bed or beds to be known .as the "It. 11. Hed," in memory of" her late tather, Mr George Henry Moore. £500 to tho treasurer of tho Salvation Army in Christchureh for the purposes of advancing the work at present carried on by that body iv Christchuroh. £250 to tno treasurer of the Horticultural Society in Christchiuch lor the use of the Society. £250 to the Christchureh District Nursing Fund. £100 to the Prison . Gate Mission, Christchureh. £1000 to Dr. Ba'rnardo's Homes. £4000 to the Children's Convalescent Cottages at New Brighton. £-1000 to the Citisens' Benevolent Association in Christehuvch towards relieving distress^£4ooo to the ChriFtchurch Lady Visiters' Association of tho Hospital. £0000 to the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals iv Christchurch. £5000 to tho chief charitable institution for relieving distress and affording help to the poor in tho Parish of Melew, in tho Isle of Man. £oCOO for the Association of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in the Parish of Melew iv tho Islo of Man. £10,000 to be invested, and the income to be expended in relieving distress amongst the gentlewomen or women of refinement residing within a radius of four miles of Cathedral square, with discretion to trustees as to expenditure of
