Regarding the statements made cy Mr Laracy to the effect that the Prime Minister '.refuel to receive a deputation yesterday horn the Shearers' Conference recently sittmg m Wellington, the position is ofSchiSJy stated as follows : — . ''On Mouday afternoon Mr Laracy telephoned to the Frimts. Ministers ofboe asxing that a ueputation be received. He was informed by the private secretary that- an eudeavour would be made to arrange for an appointment on the. following day (Tuesday); or, failing'that, on Wednesday. JSo promise wa> made that the deputation T.-ould be received on the following day. Owing to the number of engage-
ments on Tuesday, including a, conference with his Ekccllency tne tiovemoi - , and several interviews wita lao Comnnssio'ieri of Crow a Lands, and too Engineers of the Lands Department, who were then in "Wellington, tno Prnie Minister was not- able to receive tho deputation, bat fixed-.12.15 on Wednesday, which was the earliest hour available.
