BOROUGH COUNCILS.

f_ SUMNER. The Sumne'r Borough Council met lest night. Present—The Mayor (Mr G. W. C. Smithson), and Councillors T. B. Boulton, G. Brewer, J. W. Lill, E. G. Wood, S. M. Stewart, E. A. B. Rankin, and J. Barr. A recommendation by the Works Committee that, a line of wall on Estuary.road be re-built, was adopted. Tho Lyttelton Borough Council wrote agreeing to fall in with the suggestion that Lyttelton and Suxnncr should combine to elect a'representative on* thvs Christchurch. Domain Board, and stating that the LytteUon. Borough Council would be pleased to accept tho Mayor of Sumner-as the representative of the combined district. The Mayor was appointed accordingly. j The Minister of Public Works wrote in reply to the Council's letter that he would bo pleased to givo the matter of reinstating the annual grant his careful consideration, when the next Estimates are being prepared.
