SUMMARY AND FORECAST.
Mr D. C. Bates, Government Meteorologist, supplied the following-weather summary and forecast at 5 p.m. yesterday: — The barometer continued to rise on Saturday and Sunday, and the weather improved in. the South, but low pressure has ruled in the North, with stormy conditions and heavy rain southward of East Cape, off which the disturbances centred. Present indications are for high southeasterly winds northward of Farewell -Spit and Kaikoura, and moderate to strong east to northerly winds elsewhere. The winds aro ffiely to decrease shortly; expect unsettled, and showery weather in the North, and changing conditions clsewhero soon. ihe harometer has a risin- tendency in tno North, but. is falling in the South.
