DUNEDIN, May 18. An inquest, was opened this morning in regard to the death of David Peter Leo. Donovan; who was killed as the result' of railway engines colliding on Friday night. Mr Hanlon, appearing for tho signalman at Dunedin yard, said a great deal might turn on whether tho signal points were as they should have been, wherefore he applied for an adjournment, in order to oxamine the locus in quo, so as to be prepared to cross-examine witnesses. An adjournment was granted til! Wednesday. NAPIER, May 18. Charles Henry Stewart, tho local agent for the Singer Company, had his skull fractured on Saturday afternoon as the result of a motorcycle accident, and lies at the hospital in an unconscious condition. Whilst travelling along the Beach road with two men in a side car, he lost control of the machine, which overturned. The two passengers escaped unhurt. DANNEVIRKE, May 18While returning to Dannevirke from the review of Cadets at Hastings on Saturday, Cadet W. Wysocki fell off the train between Waipawa and Waipukurau. No one on the train witnessed the accident. Wysocki was momentarily stunned, but soon recovered and made his way to a house in the vicinity of where he fell off, and was subsequently sent home in a motorcar. Be escaped serious injury.
Charles Kerr, who was admitted to the hospital lace on Saturday night, suffering from coucussion of the brain, caused by a collision with a tramway oole at Woolston, was stated last night to be greatly improved.
