MAGISTERIAL.

(Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS.

Ten first offenders for drunkenness were each fined os. in default twentyfour hours' imprisonment. James Frederick Nelson and Sydney Vincent, both second - offenders for drunkenness, were each fined 10s, with the alternative of forty-eight hours' imprisonment. An old age pensioner said he was very sorry for his lapse from sobriety, and explained that a man had given him two nips of whisky. '•You're a very foolish old pensioner." said the Magistrate, in convicting and discharging the accused. A STOLEN DOG. Alfred Ernest Smith, aged 18 years, was charged that, on the 13th inst., at Addington, he stole a sheep-dog, valued at £2, the property of W. P. Byan. Chief-Detective Bishop said tho dog originally belonged to the accused. He sold it to one man. stole it from him. and sold it to another. Tho accused had been at the Weraroa Training Farm. The Magistrate convicted the boy, and sent him to Burnham. A BROKEN ORDER. Edward Bennett, for a breach of his prohibition order, was convicted and discharged. CIVIL CASES.
