MESSRS EISELEY AND LEWIS AT I>UNET>IN. (ritBSS ASSOCIATION TBI^GHAM.) DUNEDIN, May IS. Messrs Riseley and Lewis, who are touring New Zealand in tho interests of the Port of Bristol, addressed a meeting of merchants uuder the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce to-day, and wore accorded a good reception.
Tho chairman cf the Chamber of Commerce (Mr J. Loudon) said addresses had been heard from the representatives of Hull and the Port of London, and tho case had now been put from the Bristol point of view. Now Zealanders should bo proud that their little Dominion had engaged so mnch of.the attention of tbe pooplo of Great Britain. New Zealanders wero out to do their beat to get their exports to Britain at the cheapest poaslhlo rate, and also to got their imports landed hero as cheaply as possible. Mr Lewis had given a great deal of information in an explicit form.
Tho Mayor (Mr J. B. Shacklock) said if tho proposals of the speakers conld be carried out, and thero wero regular means cf communication between Bristol and New Zealand, the proposals should be put into operation. On the motion of Mayor a vote of thanks to tho speakers was carried by acclamation.
