MEAT FBEEZIKG INDUSTRY.
ITS PROGRESS IN THE NORTH.
(STECIAX TO "THE TRESS.") WANGANUI, May 18. There seems to be every prospect ot freezing works at Taihapo being edtablished. The report of the, provisional directors being so satisfactory it was decided by a meeting of over 100 farmers that a company ho registered for the purpose of erecting works to cost £30.000.
The Fcildir.g proposition is advancing, the enterprise heing called tho Oroua and West Coast Meat and Produce Co. Representative farmers jp and down the coast have promised substantial financial support as well as with stock. As a farmers' co-operative concern it is likely to be successful from tho commencement.
The Marton proposal is also said to" bo a certainty. Very favourable proposals have bean offered by the Menfc Company at Wellington, and a meeting of farmers is to be held during the coming week to consider them, ihe proposed site of the Marton works is at Kakariki.
