ACTOR DIES ON STAGE.
FREMAXTLE, May 6. During the second act of the melodrama, ''The Soldier's Weddine," presented at the King's Theatre, fromantle, last night. Mr Walter Dalgleish, v.'ho took tho part of the soldier, expired suddenly under the most tragic conditions. Mr Dalgleish, who had been with the company only a few weeks, had been in indifferent health. Late yesterday ho complained of feeling un well. This, however, did not prevent him from appearing in his usual part up to the time of bis sudden demise. Nothing untoward was noticed in 'us demeanor up to the conclusion of tho first act. At its conclusion, when he came to rescue the hc-roine's iather. uo was received with enthusiastic applause. In the second act there is a powerful piece of actinb between the heroine, Miss D'Arey, and tho soldier, who has announced his intention of leaving the country, but on tho advice ot /hQ heroine's father ho summonses sufficient courage to propose to tho heroine. Lp to this point tho deceased artist had acted well, but just as he was about to propose he was seen to stiffen himself out in the chair, his head at tho same time falling forward on the table. At first tho audience was unaware that unvthing untoward had happened, but when ho failed to respond to the words uttered by Miss D A icy. It was quichlv seen something was the matter. Miss D'Arey looked appealiv to tho wings of the stage, waitfor i.he words of the prompter, out failed to respond tho curtain was lowered.
