CHRISTCHUBCH SPOETS CLUB,

The oommitteo of tho Christchurch Sparta Club met yesterday. Present:— Messrs E. Nordon (chairman), W. G. A tack, ■F. A. Hornibrook, J. Graham, juur., T. Robson, and H. B. Gould (secretary). The question of disposing of a portion o. the section in Armagh street belonging to tho club was referred to tho chairman and the secretary, with power to act. A letter was read from Alf. Goodwin, tho English boxer, now in ' Melbourne, applying for a match with any middle-wei.'ht or lightweight. Consideration of tho matter was deferred. Thc secretary reported that J. Hagerty iiad signed the articles for tho lizht-weight championship match with P. Cook, at Chzistehurch, on August 11th. It wa3 reported that for the cuba tournv menfc on June 2nd, Gus. uevitt and Barney Ireland bad been matched, also W. .Ireland and N. Vernal!, and Digby and Curran. It was resolved to inform competitors that they must bo medically examined in future at the residence of tho club's medical e:csminers. The samo cfficialsaH for thc last tournament wero appointed for the tournament on June 2nd. It was resolved that tho list of ringside members be closed to new members.
