At the end of a furlong succeed was showing the way to Prince Kayhaid and Metallic, but turning towards the back Pastime ran into second place. Succeed was never troubled, and won very eu.il> by eight lengths from Roso Dillon, who beat Pastime by about double that distance, th© latter stopping badly at tho finish. -Jfiliie Woodbum was fourth, and Metallic n.th. Arcadian at once went to the iront, and .it the end of a mile was well clear.- of Ella Princess, Mushroom, Fiction, aud BcJv'ic. Going towards the back Mushroom, who h3d lost a good deal of ground breaking, took v «econd place, but be was' never able to get near Arcadian, who in spite of a skin tbr*. furlongs from 1 - home, won easing up by fifty yards. Blythe J_ad was thirty yards- away third, with Fiction fourth, and Ella Princess fifth. Time, srniu 13_ec. BRIGHTON HANDICAP (in harness), of 200 soys; second -0 eovs, and third 20 sovb from stake. Solo was- smartest to begin, and going out of the straight, waa followed by Maelstrom, Kalgoorlie, and Tommy C. This was the order going along the back, but at tho five furlong post Tommy C. broke badly, and dropped right back. With a mile to go, the order was So'o, Maelstrom, Kalgoorlic, Jkfuricata, and Princess Louise, with Bright and Red Mac moving up. At the turn out of the straight, Red Mac broke, and was pulled up. In th© back stretch, Muricata ran into third place, but broke almost at once, and Princess Louis© went past her. Turning towards the straight, Solo was well clear, but in tho run homo Bright came with a great dash, and Solo just lasted long enough to win by half a length. Muricata, who cam© again in tfcje straight, was half a' length away third, with Maelstrom fourth, Princess Louis© fifth, and Little Tib next. Time, 4min 50 2-sth sec. No Shenanaghan began better than any of tho others on tho limit, while the scratch horse, Huon Drift, lost two or three seconds. With a mile gone, th© order of the leaders was No Shenanaghan, Captain Mac, Foxhill, Proud Moor, and Don Bell. There was not a great deal of change among the leaders throughout tho next circuit, and with a lap to go, No Shenanaghan was still showing the way to Captain Mac, with Proud Moor just" in front of Foxhill, after whom cam© Gee Whizz and Huon Drift. Going along the back, Huon Drift put in a good run, and at the turn towards the straight closed on tho leading pair. When the. straight was reached,, Huon Drift was on terms with th© leaders, but broke in tho final stage, . and No Shenanaghan' won by two lengths- Huon Drift just got up in time to beat Captain Mac by a head for second place, and then a good way back cam© Matilda, with Proud Moor fifth.
