COLLISION IN WELLINGTON HARBOUR.
COURT OP ENQUIRY'S FINDLNO
(PRESS ASSOCIATION- TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, May 16. Mr W.-G. Riddcll, S.M., has delivered the Coprt of Enquiry's decision in connexion with the enquiry into the collision between'the small steamer _ . Pilot and the yacht Atalahta on the 13th of last'month. - The finding was that the primary 7 cause.of the collision was tho failure :. of tho master of the Atalanta to keep .;. a proper look-out. Captain Jones, . master of tho Pilot, committed an '_ '.: error of judgment, the Court held, in '. 7 not taking steps to avoid a collision when he saw it was imminent, and when the Atalanta was keeping on her course.. The collision was brought . about by the practice of yachtsmen in . "Wellington Harbour sailing close to steamers, and then suddonlv taking another course. The Court ordered that the master and owner op the Atalanta pay tho. assessor's fee (223 3s) in connexion with the enquiry, otherwise each party to pay its own costs.
