THEFT OF A CHEQUE.
A young man named Alexander Kankm pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing a chequo for £15 from Alexander Irwin, of Eketahuna. »»" I n- c t tHis .?,°. k placo in 1912 ." said Mr Bishop. "How .is it he has only just been brought up?" "We cotilu not get him until now " said Chief-Detective Bishop, who stated in reply to another question that there was no record against accused, who was quite willing to pay back tho £15 from a sum of £21 round m his possession "I'll deal leniently with him on that consideration," said Mr Bishop. "You had better keep straight in future, or I'll send you to gaol. You will be convicted and fined 40s, and ordered to refund the £15 to the owner."
