An Undesirable Residence
Paris scientists and psychical investigators are baffled by a series of strange manifestations observable nightly at a little house at Fougerc--sur-Bievre. near Blois. The houso is a sort cf bungalow belonging to a retired business man. Between 10 and 11 at ' night; and again just before daybreak, tho curtains" of the house occupied by the owner and his grandson are shaken feverishly as ii by an invisible hand. At the saino time a dull thumping shakes tho walls and the floors, "causing planter* to fall in thick flakes from the Ceiling." Electricians thought perhaps it might be caused electrically, but a thorough search revealed nothing to . support this theory. It is thought by the non-superstitious that there may be .;-._. subterranean passage trom the old eastlo of Fougeres nearby, communicating with the "haunted house," and that the phenomena are either caused by an inrush of wind or by someone who is desirous of acquiring tho "haunted" premises at a low price.
