NOTES AND MEMORANDA

The next concert of the Christchureh Orpheus Society will be given on Tuesday next, in the Choral Hall, whonthe Society will perform a number of vocal pieces by Smart, Pinsuti, Mendelssohn, Macleodsmith, Van *Bree, and: Schafer. Solos will abo be given by Miss Ibbotson, Messrs VV. J. Trewcrn, and Reginald Smith. The accompaniments will bo played by Miss Nora Macleodsmith, and the conductor will bo Mr J. T. Macleodsmith.

Mr N. H. Papakura, who distinguished himself at the Competitions, will sing "Abide With Mc" (Lkldle) and "Nearer, My God, to Thee," at Wesley Church. .East Belt, to-morrow evening. The Rev. W. A. Sinclair will give the first of a short series of frank and friendly talks to young people, his subject being "My Programme of Life."

To-morrow evening: at the Dnrham street Methodist Church, the ller. Percy Knight, the new pastor, will preach oil "The Rainbow: God's Message of Mercy Written on the Clouds." By special request Mr .Ernest Firth and Mr Papakura will eing a sacred duct: "When I survey the "Wondrous Cross," by Jude. Visitors aro promised a hearty welcome. At the Oxford terrace Baptist Church to-morrow evening, the Rer. J. J. North will preach a special sermon on "Fiendish Fashion," dealing with mimicry in Nature, in the city and in the Church.

To-morrow afternoon a special musical programme will be given at the P.S.A. in the Grand Theatre by the Christchureh Mandolin Orchestra. An address will be delivered by the Rev. J. Cocker on "The Good New Times." The evening service will be conducted by the Rev. J. Cocker.

Thu annual meeting of residents of the Tai Tapu Hall district will be bold in the hall at 7.30 on Saturday evening next.
