Macaura, an American conducting institutes in England and on the Continent for the euro of rheumatism and other was sentenced to three years' imprisonment and fined 30,000 francs for swindling in connexion with the sale of a vibratory apparatus. Several of his agents' were also fined.

This man, who called himself Dr. MacMura, "practised" in London two or three years ago, claiming to cure rheumatism by means of a vibratory instrument. By advertising very freely ho engineered a big ''boom" and "apparently did very tfclF. "Truth" repeatedly pilloried him, but no action was taken by the authorities.
