FIRE BOARD.
»■ ■ A meeting of the Christehurch Firo Board was held yesterday afternoon. Tho chairman reported that the Bailway Department had made arrangements with the contractor to leave the horses at the Railway Brigade Station as before. Fireman Davis wrote resigning his position. It was decided that the resignation he accepted with regret, and that a stun of £10 be voted to Mr Davis in appreciation of his past services. The Superintendent's recommendations for staff appointments were approved, such appointments to V> held without increase in pay until the first of July nest. Messrs Ballinger's tender to supply 20 branches and 24 nozzlee for the sum of £27 12s, delivered in Chriftchurch. was accepted, and Mr Hugo was afkca to inspect same before being shipped at Wellington. It was decided to write to the Town Clork asking if he couM arrange for a conference between the By-laws Committee and the Board, in order to discuss matters where the-powers of the Superintendent of the Brigade as Inspector under the Act, and the City Council Inspector's, apparently conflicted. The statement; .of receipts showed a credit balance of £830 5s lid. Accounts amounting to £771 19s 2d were passed for payment.
