The wheat m;.rl;et lias, been active this week in Timara; a good many lines having boon secured by millers, who are open to buy all really prime lines which are offering at a reasonable price. Prime Velvet is selling at 4s per bushel, delivered Timaru, and up to 4s Id has been paid for extra prime stuff. Best quality lied Chaff -.is fetching 3s 10d to 3s lid, while Tuscafn is conmanding 3s 10d and 3s lU|d. Tho Australian flour and wheat, which are now coming into Auckland, have not co far affected the local prices. A sample of the imported wheat shown in Timaru to-day was exceptionally good—much superior to the Xew Zealand-grown cereal. Five thousand sacks of this particular wheat were larded :n .Auckland this week, and as wheat is now quoted in Australia at 3s lid, it is thought that it will be extensive Jy eenfc to New Zealand. There is an earier tone on the potato market, owing to io the domand . from tho North. The quotations to-day for good sound tubers are £3 12s Gd to £3 15s, on trucks, country stations.
