SHEFFIELD MARKET
At tho Sheffield market yesterday the yarding of sheep and lamb's totalled 6700, of which -17C0 were in the fat pens. Lambs'accounted for 3600 practically all being of good to prime freezing Quality. :t few beinz extra. Fat ewes numbered 750. chiefly useful sorts. Wethers made un tL«>" balance of fats. Tbe e-torbs were o!X> lambs. ISO crossbred ewes, 1100 wethcr.s and 130 merino ewes. There were a iw lots of straight station sheep, but the majority were- d<-r»l«rs' travelled sorts. Thero was a full -aitondanco ot' freezing buyers Mid a. gotxl one of farmers. Competition was v-erv strong for oil fate, lato prices being more than fully maintained, and all lines changed hands at auction. Stores sold at otlier market rates, but a good portion of tho entry was withdrawn. Prices, were:—Fat lamb?. 17 IDs to 21s Id; e?tra. to 23s C.I: lighter, 16s Id to 17s 2d; fat crossbred wethers, 18s 6d to 22s 10d; i-at crossbred ewes (bo&t). 15s 4d to 19s 0d ; others. 10s '- to 14» 10d : fat merino wethers, lls 6u: fat merino ewes. 8s 3d: four and six-tooth crossbred wethers (oif tussock'), ltis Id; two, four and si.\-tooth (small uaoJnvardi. 12s 2d: two-tooth crossbred ewes (small cull sorts), los Id: a.cert culla, 4s 9d to os: store lambs, 12s od to 14s 7d; aged merino ewes, -i* 3d.
