Special to "the tress. INTERCARGILL, May 15. There is practicaHy no cbanse from last week's report Tn the condition of the stock marked in Southland. There rontinues jin active demand for wether lambi-, which on account of the limited supply are mooting with ready sale. Good Forward bullocks are also being eagerly sought, but enquiry for young cattle has slackened off considerably. Oats—There is a fair quantity of last season's oats in the various stores, and this da.<--s of stuff difficult to quit, oivinp:. no donbt-, to the large quantity of scNiiul-hand seed held by growers in Canterbury, and which merchants seem to prefer to old oats. Cbaff—The market is well supplied, and merchants are buying only sufficient to meet requirements for 'local consumption. Up to £2 15s is being • paid for prime quality. Ryegrass —There has been no change. Merchants are buying on a basis of from 2s 6d to 3s on trucks for undressed seed, while as high as 3s 3d has been paid for heavy lines up to 2SJb, which, however, are few and far between.
